Integrity

Just like a windshield protects occupants in a vehicle

Integrity is a transparent barrier that protects your soul from harmful elements
Once chipped it can break easily
And expose your soul to more negativity.

In the world of one click shopping, easy returns, and ever changing consumerism

  • Integrity is so easy to sell these days…
I bought a cover for my new tablet; and once I got it, me being germaphobe, I decided to clean it with an alcohol wipe but it spoilt the art work on the leather (it was painted and not printed). My first instinct was oh God I spoilt it but no worries I can return it and get a new one. I was being selfish and selling my integrity for a few bucks. I am sure many of us have done this. Used a product and returned it or broken it and returned it, saying it’s a faulty product or something similar. In the world of ever changing, fast consumerism, and instant gratification, we have become desensitized to chipping away our integrity slowly but surely.
So be conscious of your decisions
And keep your integrity in check
    For just like a windshield
    protects occupants in a vehicle
Integrity is a transparent barrier that protects your soul from harmful elements
Once chipped it can break easily
And expose your soul to more negativity.

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

“You must be truthful, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man will keep speaking the truth and striving to speak the truth until he will be recorded by Allah as a siddiq (speaker of the truth). Beware of telling lies, for lying leads to immorality and immorality leads to Hellfire. A man will keep telling lies and striving to tell lies until he is recorded by Allah as a liar.”

Not yours

It isn’t about ‘My land’ or ‘Your land’, but rather, ‘We are a part of this land’, and will someday return to it.

“From this very earth We created you and to the same earth We shall cause you to return, and from it We shall bring you forth to life again.” (Qur’an 20:55).

Change isn’t easy – don’t force it.

Don’t be the storm in someone’s life. Be the breeze that spreads the seeds of change.

Trying to change someone without their will is not only fruitless it is painful. We are all trying to do our best and most of us think we are doing things the right way. So forcing them to see your way as the right way is futile. Instead work on yourself and let the world around you get better.

Just like “there is no compulsion in religion” (Qur’an 2:256) let their be no compulsion in being. Let the proofs be clear as day and people will aspire to be like you.

Peace requires Courage

Peace requires courage. Away from all the voices explaining why their side is right, oppressed, or ethical. Peace, goes beyond the commotion, it goes beyond picking sides. It is being able to hear the other person speak before combatting them with an answer. It is seeing the other side as equally human, equally in the right, equally fragile. It requires the ability to see the enemy through an altruistic lens of forgiveness, empathy, and vulnerability.

The Prophet, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as a mercy to all of humanity – not just to the Muslim ummah but also to those who had once been against him (PBUH). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Never aspire for confronting your enemies (in a fight). Pray to God to be among those who seek living peacefully with others.”
